Encounter with YOSHI OïDA

An actor made the gesture, pointing at the moon. The audience didn’t notice whether or not he moved elegantly; they simply saw the moon. I prefer this kind of actor: the one who shows the moon to the audience. The actor who can become invisible.

We had the privilege of working with japanese actor, director and writer Yoshi Oïda.

Working with Yoshi we encountered some elements of his philosophy and training.

With a fantastic group of artists we also explored the Japanese Myth Amaterasu-ōmikami and devised different chapters of the myth together.

We had the chance to show some of our own work to Yoshi and receive some very valuable feedback, adding to the continued development of Paige's solo show, Good Boy and Carlos' upcoming show, In The Name of Humanity

Amaterasu-ōmikami

天照大神/天照大御神/天照皇大神

Amaterasu-ōmikami is a deity of the Japanese myth cycle and also a major deity of the Shinto religion. She is seen as the goddess of the sun and the universe. The name Amaterasu is derived from Amateru and means "shining in heaven". The meaning of her whole name, Amaterasu-ōmikami, is "the great august kami (deity) who shines in the heaven". According to the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki in Japanese mythology, the Emperors of Japan are considered to be direct descendants of Amaterasu.

It was worderful to work with such a fantastic group of artists and experience the amazing universe of YOSHI OïDA.
